Electric Ireland’s ‘GAA Minor Moments Podcast' Season Four Episode Ten

Electric Ireland, proud sponsor of the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Championships and the Electric Ireland Camogie Minor Championships, has today released Season Four, Episode Ten of the ‘GAA Minor Moments’ podcast, featuring Kerry football star Tommy Walsh. Host Fergal O’Keeffe sits down with the Gaelic football star to explore his memories of playing minor football for Kerry, his transition to the senior team, and his experiences playing Australian Rules football.
Walsh reflects on the pressure of playing in multiple All-Ireland Finals, urging young players to enjoy the experience and not put too much pressure on themselves. He emphasises the significance of family and community support, recalling the special moment he shared with his parents after winning the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 2009. He also highlights the unique experience of playing in Croke Park on All-Ireland Final day, both as a minor and a senior player.
Tommy delves into his decision to play Australian Rules football, discussing the challenges and rewards of living and playing in Australia. He offers insights for young players considering a similar move, highlighting the importance of understanding the commitment required.
Looking back on his career, Walsh reflects on the highlights, including winning the All-Ireland Championships and representing Ireland in International Rules football. He acknowledges the role of his family, teammates, and coaches in his success, expressing gratitude for the opportunities he has been given. Offering advice to current minor players, the All-Ireland winner emphasises that it's crucial to maintain a sense of perspective. He stresses that setbacks are inevitable, that is a part of sport and to not let those impact your belief, and the achievement of your goals.
Electric Ireland’s ‘GAA Minor Moments’ Podcast will air on Tuesdays throughout the Electric Ireland Camogie & GAA Minor Championships as well-known Irish stars share memories from their early sporting careers, reflecting on the defining moments from playing Minor and how it shaped them, both on and off the pitch.
