Electric Ireland announces 4% residential gas reduction and electricity remains unchanged

Electric Ireland today announces that its residential gas prices will decrease by 4% from 1st November 2025. Electric Ireland’s residential electricity prices will remain unchanged for its almost 1.1 million residential customers.

Electric Ireland remains committed to providing ongoing value to its customers.

Residential gas unit rates and standing charges will decrease by 4%, effective from 1st November 2025, equating to a €57.56 saving per annum on the average gas bill. Electric Ireland’s resultant Gas Standard Variable Tariff EAB will be one of the most competitive on the market.

This is Electric Ireland’s fourth consecutive decrease for residential gas customers since November 2023, delivering a cumulative reduction of 23.6%, and savings of €390 (excluding VAT and carbon tax) on the average annual gas bill.

Residential electricity unit rates and standing charges will remain unchanged.  Since November 2023, Electric Ireland has reduced residential electricity unit rates three times, delivering a cumulative reduction of up to 19.34%, and savings of up to €376 (excluding VAT and PSO levy) per annum.

Electric Ireland has the lowest Electricity Standard Variable Tariff (SVT) on the market*.

Pat Fenlon, Executive Director of Electric Ireland commented: “Electric Ireland is pleased to announce a further reduction in prices for our residential customers today. We are acutely conscious of the financial pressures facing our customers and we believe today’s announcement will provide improved value for Electric Ireland customers, as we face into the winter."

Customer Supports

At Electric Ireland, we remain very conscious of the cost-of-living challenges facing many of our customers and have invested over €6 million in our Hardship Fund since 2021.  Ahead of winter, we have reviewed our support activities and have engaged closely with key stakeholders such as MABS, SVP, and Alone to ensure we develop measures which will provide meaningful impact for our most financially vulnerable customers.

This will include:

  1. Compassionate Assistance Fund: A temporary Compassionate Assistance Fund is being established for winter 25/26. Applying the learnings gained through our previous Hardship Fund, Electric Ireland will work with key partners such as MABS SVP and Alone to identify appropriate financially struggling customers and provide them with direct financial relief via their electricity or gas account.

  2. Energy Cost Education: In September and October, an energy education campaign will be actively promoted; an information email or leaflet included with bills along with website content, to support better understanding of the costs of household appliances and provide advice to help our customers better manage their bills.

  3. Customer Care: We have reviewed our customer care agents’ ability to engage with and support financially vulnerable customers and have commenced the roll-out of enhanced training to better support distressed customers.
