What is 'Is This a Good Time?’

In October 2022, ESB Networks launched their 'Is This a Good Time?' programme to help empower all electricity customers to take control of their home’s electricity usage, regardless of their electricity supplier. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll get energy-saving tips and invites to Energy Events. By taking part in these events, you can earn rewards and support Ireland’s cleaner electric future.

Over 30,000 electricity customers have signed up, helping to support Ireland's security of supply and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

How does ‘Is This a Good Time?’ work?

Step 1: Sign up for 'Is This a Good Time?’
Step 2: Add your MPRN to your account.
Step 3: Receive notifications about upcoming Energy Events.
Step 4: Shift your energy usage away from peak times during these Events.
Step 5: Fill in the short survey and earn rewards for your participation.

What are Energy Events?

There are two different types of Energy Events: 

1. Peak Events: times when electricity demand is high so we may ask you to reduce your electricity use

2. Flexibility events: times when there is surplus renewable energy to take advantage of, or also times when there is less renewable energy available.

How to earn rewards

• Once you are signed up, ESB Networks will occasionally contact you by email or SMS to see if you can take action during Energy Events.

• These events occur at times when there is adequate available renewable energy you can take advantage of, or at times when there is less renewable energy available.

• Once you take part in an Energy Event and complete a short survey, you will be eligible for a reward in the form of a digital eGift card, provided your MPRN is linked to your ESB Networks online account.
