How do I adjust an estimated bill?

If you have received an estimated bill (indicated by an 'e' next to your total bill amount) and you wish to adjust it, you can submit your own meter reading to correct it - in either of the following scenarios:

  • If the reading on your estimated bill is significantly higher or lower than your actual bill. You then need to submit your own meter reading and, where appropriate, we’ll issue a new bill based on your reading.


  • If the ESB Networks meter reader did not gain access to your home’s meter box and left a card. You can then submit a meter reading with ESB Networks online or by calling 1800 33 77 77. You must do this within 24 hours of their visit.
