Electric Ireland requires the below information to facilitate the closing of your account. The data controller is the Electricity Supply Board, trading as Electric Ireland. Please refer to our Privacy Notice

You will need the following to hand to close your account:

  • Your electricity and/or gas account numbers
  • Your final electricity and/or gas meter readings
  • Your forwarding address
  • The name of the incoming occupier if available

    • We’ll need your meter reading(s) from the day of your move to ensure your final bill is accurate.


      Your Electric Ireland account number is a 9 digit number beginning with 9 and can be viewed at the top right corner of your Electric Ireland bill
      Your meter can have one or two rows of numbers. Ignore any figures in red or any figures surrounded by a red box
      Enter the meter reading corresponding to the night rate. On some meters I refers to Night and II to Day
      Your meter can have one or two rows of numbers. Ignore any figures in red or any figures surrounded by a red box

    • We’ll need your meter reading(s) from the day of your move to ensure your final bill is accurate.
