Your Guide to the SEAI’s Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) for Solar Grant

At Electric Ireland, we understand that many Irish businesses are striving to cut energy costs and operate more sustainably. That’s why we’re committed to supporting you with practical, cost-effective solutions like Solar PV (photovoltaic) panels as well as the most up to date information in relation to assistance that you can apply for.
With the help of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s (SEAI) Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG), making the switch to solar power is more accessible and affordable than ever. This grant can significantly reduce the upfront cost of your solar panel installation, allowing you to produce your own clean, renewable energy while lowering your electricity bills.
Whether you run a small business, manage a farm, or operate a school, this Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) grant is designed to support your journey to a greener, net zero future.
How does Solar PV work?
Solar PV panels convert sunlight into electricity that can be used to power your business lighting, equipment, and heating. You can use this electricity straight away, store it in a battery for later use, or export any excess electricity back to the national grid. Under Ireland’s microgeneration support scheme, you could earn a 19.5c/kWh credit for any exported excess electricity you haven't used.
The good news is that you can also claim 100% capital allowances on Solar PV systems, which gives you a faster return on your initial investment.
What are the advantages of Solar PV for your Business?
- Cut energy bills by up to 50%*
- Support Ireland’s journey to Net Zero
- Reduce your carbon footprint
- Access SEAI grants of up to €162,600
Who can apply for the Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG)?
The NDMG is a grant scheme from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) that supports Solar PV installations in non-domestic settings.
The SEAI Grant supports systems up to 1000kWp. The exact amount depends on the system size, with funding available up to a maximum of €162,600. This helps reduce the initial cost of getting solar, making it more accessible for organisations of all sizes.
