Key Performance Indicators

Hello from all of us at Electric Ireland

Electric Ireland has been mandated by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) to take over the electricity supply of Panda Power Residential and Business customers, as the designated supplier of last resort.

Electric Ireland will adhere to the CRU guidelines to ensure the customer transition is as smooth as possible for all remaining Panda Power customers. Electricity supply will not be interrupted.

FAQs

What is the Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR)?

If a supplier exits the market, The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has the power to take action to ensure affected customers are guaranteed continuity of supply and their rights are fully protected. The CRU will initiate the “Supplier of Last Resort” procedure. Under this procedure Electric Ireland is obliged to accept the transfer of all remaining Panda Power electricity customers in order to ensure their supply is not interrupted. Gas customers will be moved to Bord Gáis Energy.

What do Panda Power customers need to do?

Panda Power customers had the ability to shop around and switch to a supplier of their choice up until 28 September 2022. Any Panda Power customer that did not switch suppliers by this date, automatically transferred to Electric Ireland for a minimum of 90 days.

If you were a customer that automatically transferred, you received either one of our Standard Variable tariffs or our Market Tracker tariff.1 The tariff you received is dependent on your meter type.

1DG5s received our Open Standard Variable Tariff, DG6s received our Standard Variable Tariff. All other interval meter customers received our Market Tracker Tariff.

What happens next for Panda Power customers if they transferred to Electric Ireland?

All Panda Power customers who did not select a supplier before 28 September 2022 were transferred to Electric Ireland and joined one of our Business tariffs for electricity for a minimum 90 days.

Customers can contact Electric Ireland to discuss their new tariff. From the 1st October 2022, we will communicate with all transferring customers who were previously with Panda Power and provide further information.

What Happens if I don’t want to be an Electric Ireland customer?

Customers who transferred to Electric Ireland are on their tariff for a minimum of 90 days, until 29 December 2022. After this date, customers can move to another electricity supplier, or choose to remain with Electric Ireland.

Will I be on the same rates with Electric Ireland that I was on with Panda Power?

Business customers were put on one of our Standard Variable Tariffs or our Market Tracker tariff. The tariff you received is dependent on your meter type.

We will be contacting you to notify you which tariff you received should you not have switch supplier before the 28 September 2022.

Any previous contract arrangements, for example, a Fixed Price term contract will not be fulfilled by Electric Ireland. Your new tariff will be a market rate reflective of the current wholesale market prices.

Panda Power also looks after my Gas supply. Will Electric Ireland also supply my gas?

No, Bord Gais have been appointed by the CRU as the Supplier of Last Resort for your Gas supply. They will be in contact with you separately.

What happens to the credit on my Panda Power electricity account?

Any credit/debit that you have on your Panda Power electricity account will be addressed by Panda Power and not by Electric Ireland.
