When will I receive the €600 government electricity credit?

On September 27th, 2022, the Government announced that electricity credits for all households totalling €600 (€550.47 + €49.53 VAT) will be available in three instalments of €200 (€183.49 + €16.51 VAT). The Government Electricity Credit will be automatically available to all residential electricity customer accounts and no action will be required from the customer.

I received my €200 electricity credit on my online account but it was not on my recent bill and the amount owing on my bill was collected in full via my direct debit?

The third electricity will be available on your online account on March 3rd, 2023. If your bill issue date is prior to the credit instalment date, the credit will be applied to your online electricity account, but it will not be reflected on your bill until the next bill issues. If the credit is not reflected as a line item on your bill, the full amount owing on your bill will be collected via direct debit.

How will the VAT reduction appear on my bill?

The VAT amount will be displayed as a separate line item on the front of your bill. The VAT amount and rate will also be displayed on the second page of your bill. As stated by the Government, VAT will be charged at 9% instead of 13.5% effective from the 1st of May to 31st of October, 2022.
