For a lot of us, the only time we really see athletes is when they're on the big stage competing. It's often easy to forget that being an Olympic athlete is not just for a couple of months leading up to a competition and that for most athletes it becomes a way of life. Between early mornings, multiple training sessions, fitness training and all the usual pressures of life such as family life and work, it's difficult being an Olympic athlete.
With this in mind, we sat down with some of the Team Ireland athletes competing in the Rio Olympics this year to get a small insight into their daily lives.
"What's a typical day in your life?"
"What are you most proud of?"
"What mantra/motto do you live by?"
In the coming months, we’ll be sharing inspiring advice and stories from the members of Team Ireland. Follow the stories at #ThePowerWithin.
