On behalf of Electric Ireland, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who were a part of this year’s Darkness Into Light and showed their support for the thousands of people affected by suicide worldwide. To watch just one of the many stories of why participants walk from Darkness Into Light, see the video below.
Johnny and Gertie Fox are one of the thousands of participants of Darkness Into Light who have a moving story to tell. However, what makes their story different is that they were a part of the Pieta committee that created the idea for Darkness into Light in 2008. What then started with 479 participants in one venue, Darkness into light has since grown into a global movement of almost 200,000 people strong across five continents.
Every year, Johnny stands at the finish line at the Phoenix Park cheering on every person who crosses it, from the very first runner, to the final finisher. Without his tireless dedication and Gertie’s support, the walk wouldn’t be what it is today. At Electric Ireland, we are proud to be working alongside people like the Foxes, the thousands of volunteers and participants who contribute to #ThePowerOfHope and help to make Darkness Into Light the powerful movement it is today.
