Walk/Run for Pieta House on Saturday, May 11th
There’s something comforting about the thought that, no matter how dark it may be where you are right now, daylight’s always within reach. It’s a belief that’s shared by the Irish suicide and self-harm crisis centre Pieta House.
Based in Dublin and Limerick, they provide face-to-face professional support for people who have suicidal thoughts or who self-harm, and they rely heavily on the help and donations of their volunteers and supporters around the country.
We're sponsoring their Darkness into Light run (walk) to help raise funds. It's a 5km walk/run that starts in the wee small hours of the morning and finishes as dawn is breaking. That walk/run bit is crucial - it’s completely up to you how you complete the course, so leggers and strollers alike are equally welcome.
If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, the 5th annual Darkness into Light event – which we’re delighted to be sponsoring – is coming up soon. At 4am on the morning of Saturday May 11th, the event will kick off simultaneously at 20 locations around Ireland (see below).
How much does it cost?
Registration is just €25 per person (€15 for students/OAPs / jobseekers) or, if you want to support Pieta House as a group, you can register five people for €100.
